Why Navy, Green, and White?

Before the Iota Chapter established itself at SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson Universtiy, the girls were faced with a major obstacle. Arethusa’s traditional colors of Kelly Green and White where also used by another sorority on campus.

 

To distinguish Arethusa  from the other sorority, the girls decided to adopt another color that would complement the Kelly Green of Arethusa. Navy Blue was chosen because, “the blue and green blend in with each other, representing unity, rather than a contrast”.

 

The Founding Sisters of Iota in choosing Navy Blue and its symbolism was well thought out and consistent with Arethusa’s theme of nature and unity. The combination of colors is truly appealing.

 

Kudos to the Founding Sisters of the Iota Chapter for choosing such an apt color!
